Beandri Booysen: Girl in South Africa with progeria dies

Beandri Booysen’s life was a testament to resilience and joy, despite living with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, a rare condition causing rapid aging. Diagnosed at seven months old, doctors didn’t expect her to live beyond her teens, but Beandri defied the odds, spreading positivity and inspiration until her passing at 19, just days before Christmas.

Despite weighing just 12 kilograms, Beandri lived fully—attending school, dreaming of becoming a teacher, and sharing her life on TikTok, where her motto, “Be yourself. Love yourself. Believe in yourself,” touched nearly 300,000 followers.

On December 18, her mother, Bea, announced her passing, describing her as a vibrant personality and the last person in South Africa with progeria. Tributes poured in, honoring Beandri’s courage and legacy.

Beandri’s short life reminds us to cherish every moment, live bravely, and spread love and positivity, just as she did. Her light will continue to inspire all who knew her story.
