In the fallout from the October 7th attack, certain Democrats have opposed the U.S.\u2019s support of Israel.<\/p>\n
That includes a number of progressive Democrats in Congress. Rep. Rashida Tlaib has been one of the most vocal.<\/p>\n
Fellow Michigan Democrats have condemned her anti-Israel comments. And now, a legal group is seeking a decision that could shut down her career.<\/p>\n

A legal group called on the Michigan bar to investigate and sanction \u201cSquad\u201d Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., over her antisemitic rhetoric\u2026<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
[Dan Backer] said Tlaib \u201cclearly violated\u201d the Michigan bar\u2019s ethics code with her rhetoric and that he was initially looking into \u201csome of those snot-nosed kids\u201d out of Harvard and Columbia law schools.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The nonpartisan Coolidge Reagan Foundation is requesting the State Bar of Michigan to investigate Rep. Tlaib over her anti-Israel comments. The group has accused the Democrat of spreading \u201cvile, antisemitic lies to foster hatred towards a people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rep. Tlaib has a long history of spreading anti-Israel rhetoric. But Democrats began to turn on her after she tried to defend the use of the anti-Semitic chant \u201cFrom the River to the Sea.\u201d This phrase is used by Palestinians when calling for the destruction of the Jewish state.<\/p>\n

Tlaib had recently hosted a pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel rally. She even called out President Joe Biden for his continued support of Israel, making comments some have interpreted as threats.<\/p>\n
An attempt to censure the Democrat failed in the House until she made her recent comments. Now, many are accusing the Democrat of fostering anti-Semitic views as well as endorsing the actions of groups like Hamas.<\/p>\n
It remains to be seen what the State Bar of Michigan will do. In past decades, it would have been almost a certainty that they would disbar someone spreading anti-Semitic comments. But as more and more progressives rally against Israel, it is now unclear.<\/p>\n
Tlaib might benefit from her minority status. The state bar might fear opposing both a woman and a minority Democrat.<\/p>\n
Regardless of what the state bar decides to do, Tlaib continues to face opposition from her party. She appears unwilling to apologize for her anti-Israel stance. It is likely she will continue to speak out against the Jewish nation.<\/p>\n
