A lot would have to go wrong for Biden to lose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lichtman remains unswayed by polls indicating Trump\u2019s competitiveness with or lead over Biden on a national scale and in pivotal possible there could be a cataclysmic enough event outside the scope of the keys that could affect the election and here we do have, for the first time, not just a former president but a major party candidate sitting in a trial and who knows if he\u2019s convicted \u2013 and there\u2019s a good chance he will be \u2013 how that might scramble things,\u201d Lichtman explained.<\/p>\n<p>Lichtman attributed Biden\u2019s 2020 victory to the historical significance of the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting on the previous election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pandemic is what did him in,\u201d Lichtman asserted to\u00a0The Guardian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe congratulated me for predicting him but he didn\u2019t understand the keys. The message of the keys is it\u2019s governance not campaigning that counts and instead of dealing substantively with the pandemic, as we know, he thought he could talk his way out of it and that sank him,\u201d the forecaster continued.<\/p>\n<p>Lichtman, however, also acknowledges that some of the keys are currently favoring Trump.<\/p>\n<p>A significant factor in the upcoming race could be the emergence of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a notable third-party challenger. The state of the economy is shaping up to be another pivotal element.<\/p>\n<p>Social unrest poses a considerable challenge for Biden, particularly evident in the surge of anti-Israel protests on college campuses, where The Mail explains the president is derisively labeled \u201cGenocide Joe\u201d by many young demonstrators.<\/p>\n<p>Charisma, both of the incumbent and the challenger, is also deemed crucial. While age is a concern for both candidates, it seems to weigh more heavily against Biden than Trump, per Lichtman.<\/p>\n<p>Notably Lichtman\u2019s prediction missed the mark in 2000 when he anticipated Al Gore\u2019s victory, he attributes this to what he perceives as a stolen election, given Gore\u2019s popular vote win. However, he rightly called Trump\u2019s 2016 win, despite Clinton winning the popular vote, highlighting the inherent uncertainties of the electoral system.<\/p>\n<p>Lichtman acknowledges the pressure he faces, stating, \u201cIt\u2019s nerve-racking because there are a lot of people who\u2019d love to see me fail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He maintains that human fallibility is inevitable though, asserting, \u201cI\u2019m human. It doesn\u2019t mean my system\u2019s wrong.
