As the bride drew nearer, one of the guests whispered a joke about how the bride seemed to be “floating” down the aisle. People chuckled softly, but I wasn’t laughing. Something was eating at me. And at the very moment when the bride was nearly at the altar, I stepped closer. My heart froze. I couldn’t ignore my instincts any longer. So, just as everyone expected her to stand beside the groom, I quickly approached and gently lifted the hem of her dress. The church fell silent, and everyone stood still. What I saw defied all logic.<\/p>\n

My best friend Dave was tying the knot with a beautiful woman, and I was happy he found his soulmate. His bride, the most kind person I have ever met, loved him unconditionally. He was lucky to have her, and everyone agreed on that.<\/p>\n

<\/span>When the wedding day finally arrived and we were all gathered at the local church, something about the bride\u2019s walk felt odd. Shanize was tall and gorgeous, her walking was gracious, and today, she didn\u2019t resemble herself.<\/p>\n

I turned to Dave\u2019s sister and asked her if she could sense something was wrong, but she leaned and said, \u201cJanice, please don\u2019t make any scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/span>How could she not notice Shanize\u2019s weird walk? But Heather assured me that the bride was just nervous because it was her big day.<\/p>\n

However, I wasn\u2019t the only one who was aware of the awkwardness of Shanize\u2019s steps. As she drew nearer, one of the guests whispered a joke about how the bride seemed to be \u201cfloating\u201d down the aisle. Those around him chuckled, but I didn\u2019t laugh. I just knew something wasn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n

And just as Heather, Dave\u2019s sister, warned me not to act foolishly, I found myself walking behind the bride.<\/h2>\n

I bent over and lifted the hem of the bride\u2019s gown just a few inches. What I saw shocked me.<\/p>\n

Man\u2019s shoes. I looked at huge, polished man\u2019s shoes.<\/p>\n

As I knelt down further I noticed the person who head was covered in a veil wore pants underneath the fancy gown. What was going on, I thought to myself while looking at Dave who at that point wouldn\u2019t take the huge smile off of his face.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The man in Shanize\u2019s dress took his wig and started laughing at Dave. It was his best man and everyone believed he was pulling a prank on him, but the truth was, he wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the hell is this?\u201d Dave asked in confusion. \u201cWhere\u2019s Shanize?\u201d<\/p>\n

The best man said Shanize was gone. She didn\u2019t want to proceed with the\u00a0wedding, but she also didn\u2019t want to cancel it. What she wanted was everyone to know Dave was having an affair with one of the bridesmaids, Vanessa. She wanted him to be exposed, and the best man helped her with the plan.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The church was silent. The guests could barely put their thoughts into words from the shock.<\/p>\n

Dave yelled that what the best man said wasn\u2019t true. He denied having anything with Vanessa, who was standing just a few rows away. But it was obvious he wasn\u2019t telling the truth.<\/p>\n

It turned out I didn\u2019t know my best friends that well.<\/h2>\n

He threw away his chance at happiness for a cheap fling, and that was his punishment.<\/p>\n

<\/span>I felt sorry for Dave, but I was glad Shanize discovered he was unfaithful before starting a new life with him.<\/p>\n

Alone and broken, Dave continued kneeling at the church as he witnessed all the guests leaving the place in disapppintment.<\/p>\n
