But Anna was told that one of the puppies wasn\u2019t \u201cnormal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tilly was born with a rare genetic condition called \u201cshort spine syndrome,\u201d which is just what it sounds like: the puppy has a noticeably short back and barely any neck.<\/p>\n<p><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-1\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B0bjTL9B19S\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=675&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fsroaming.com&amp;rp=%2Fdog-born-with-a-short-spine-was-nearly-euthanized-as-a-puppy-but-is-now-thriving-as-internet-star%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A1%2C%22os%22%3A5294.5%2C%22ls%22%3A1619.300000011921%2C%22le%22%3A5276.400000035763%7D\" height=\"834\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-1\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While the condition meant that Tilly would look permanently different, it doesn\u2019t cause any pain, so the dog can lead an otherwise normal life.<\/p>\n<p>But Anna was shocked to find out that the owner was thinking of having the \u201cdeformed\u201d pup euthanized.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, that did not happen, as Anna quickly fell for the tiny, unique dog and rescued her, giving Tilly a home and sparing her from being put down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I got her, she was this dirty little fluff ball,\u201d Anna told The Dodo. \u201cShe fit perfectly inside my hand, and as we drove home from where I picked her up, she lay in my lap and looked up at me with her big brown eyes, and I knew she needed me and I needed her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-2\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BzGrTbSp1rf\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=675&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fsroaming.com&amp;rp=%2Fdog-born-with-a-short-spine-was-nearly-euthanized-as-a-puppy-but-is-now-thriving-as-internet-star%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A2%2C%22os%22%3A5297.5%2C%22ls%22%3A1619.300000011921%2C%22le%22%3A5276.400000035763%7D\" height=\"942\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-2\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tilly has grown and turned out to be the most loving, attentive dog Anna could\u2019ve asked for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe sleeps in bed with me like a little human, putting her head on the pillow and tucking her legs into the blanket,\u201d she said. \u201cShe always has to be near me, touching me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I\u2019m cooking she stands right between my legs.
