{"id":14233,"date":"2024-09-02T17:39:46","date_gmt":"2024-09-02T17:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diigital.press\/?p=11654"},"modified":"2024-09-02T17:39:46","modified_gmt":"2024-09-02T17:39:46","slug":"nhl-star-johnny-gaudreau-31-and-younger-brother-tragically-killed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otrxio.com\/nhl-star-johnny-gaudreau-31-and-younger-brother-tragically-killed\/","title":{"rendered":"NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, 31, and younger brother tragically killed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were both killed when they were struck by a passing car in Oldmans Township, New Jersey last week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to tragic\u00a0reports, the brothers were riding bikes on a rural road called Stumpy Lane at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29 when the accident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>The Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team confirmed Johnny\u2019s passing in a post on X on August 30, detailing how heartbroken the team is by the news.<\/p>\n<p>As per CNN,\u00a0Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were riding their bikes down a country road the night before their youngest sister was due to be married.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, the family of the brothers are now preparing for two funerals, while the ice hockey world is in mourning.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny and Matthew had played together at Boston College prior to Johnny being drafted by the NHL\u2019s Calgary Flames in 2011. CNN report that Higgins was trying to pass an SUV when he struck Johnny and Matthew.
